In a 6–3 decision, the court said the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), a 1977 statute that grants the president the authority to regulate or prohibit certain international transactions during a national emergency, does not authorise the imposition of such tariffs.
Following this massive development, Trump said that he has signed an order imposing 10 percent global tariffs in response to the US Supreme Court ruling against the tariffs.
