US Tariffs On India LIVE Updates: US President Donald Trump has hit out at New Delhi and its trading partner Moscow, hours after announcing 25 per cent tariffs on Indian imports. The American leader said he does not care about India’s trade dealings with Russia and that the two “can take their dead economies down together”.
“I don’t care what India does with Russia. They can take their dead economies down together, for all I care. We have done very little business with India, their tariffs are too high, among the highest in the world. Likewise, Russia and the USA do almost no business together. Let’s keep it that way,” he said in a post on Truth Social.
On Wednesday, calling India a “friend”, Trump announced 25 per cent tariffs on New Delhi. “Over the years, we have done relatively little business with them because their Tariffs are far too high, among the highest in the World, and they have the most strenuous and obnoxious non-monetary Trade Barriers of any Country,” he posted on Truth Social.
In response, the Indian government said it was studying the implications of Trump’s announcements and remained dedicated to securing a fair trade deal.
